Reason #1: Gaining Experience- You get to gain experience in all areas of your chosen field. This means that you work on all aspects of the business and learn everything you need to know. When it comes time to apply for jobs, companies will see that you have a wide spectrum of experience.
Reason #2: Gaining the Edge- Having experience in a job gives you the edge over lots of the other candidates that you will be competing against for the job. If you have internship experience this gives you even more credibility for the skills and experiences you have gained during an internship.
Reason #3: Earn Money- Although internships are generally unpaid, there are those that are paid. This means that you get paid money to learn a new skill and to test a potential career. You also usually benefit from other staff benefits as well which could be anything from discounts to free gym memberships.
Reason #4: Discover if it is the Right Job for You- It is vital to learn the work hours, load, and environment to determine if this the right job for you. Although you may enjoy studying in your chosen field you may not actually like the end result.
Reason #5: Securing a Job- Having an internship gives you a chance to get to know professionals in your field of study. If they are impressed with your work they will most likely offer you a job when you’ve completed your education. If a job is not available they can give you a great reference.
Reason #6: Ensuring the Best Education- Professionals in your chosen field of study are great consultants. They remember what was lacking in their education and can direct you on which non-required courses will be extremely helpful supplements.
